109 dB 3-way horn from Greece

Jan 10, 2011

Years of experimentation with horns led the guys behind Tune Audio to commercialize their ideas of the best way to reproduce recorded music: properly implemented horns will exhibit high efficiency, low distortion, huge dynamic range and controlled directivity. I agree: no other loudspeaker principle can offer those properties in one package.

The result was Tune Audio ANIMA. ANIMA is build around a bass horn (15" woofer), which stands tall and fires to the floor. Mid height on the side there is ave a mid range horn (5" mid modified in house) and on top the high frequency horn with a 1" compression driver with neodymium magnet and titanium diaphragm. Both bass and mid horns are build from Baltic birch plywood while the HF horn is build from our proprietary epoxy compound. Crossovers are located on the bottom of the bass horn. All components are hard wired and 1st order crossovers are used in all ways.

Internal wiring are made of high purity OFC copper with waxed cotton insulation. Brass bracing parts with felt acoustic isolation are used to minimize vibrations transfer on contacts of the different horns. Horns are mechanically time aligned for time coherent result. For mid and high frequencies level adjustments are available to the user making it possible to fine tune ANIMA to the listening room. Beaming of the high frequencies horn is also available to aim the listening position.
